Il Lago Dirillo si trova nella Sicilia orientale nel territtorio dei comuni di Licodia Eubea (CT) e Monterosso Almo (RG). Si tratta di un lago artificiale realizzato attraverso lo sbarramento del fiume Dirillo tramite la diga Ragoleto. Il bacino della capacità di oltre 20 milioni di metri cubi, è stato attrezzato come zona turistica sportiva. Il lago è incastonato in un paesaggio ricco di verde che farebbe pensare di non essere in Sicilia ma in regioni come il Trentino. Le acque sono popolate da varie specie ittiche lacustri come il luccio, la trota, la carpa ed il persico. Dalla sponda orientale del lago è possibile raggiungere il Parco di Canalazzo un complesso boscato che si compone di specie quercine e di conifere che piano piano stanno sempre più cedendo terreno alle querce tipiche della zona. Percorrendo la strada che si snoda all’interno del bosco, si incontrano le prime infrastrutture dell’area attrezzata. Presto si arriva nei pressi di un antico mulino intorno al quale sono state sistemate altre infrastrutture ricettive. E’ presente sul luogo un punto cottura multiplo, tanti tavoli e panche molto ben inserite nell’ambiente. Molto caratteristiche sono le Case Canalazzo, complesso edilizio rurale fortificato risalente al 1800 dove oltre alle possenti strutture murarie si possono ammirare antichi sistemi di canalizzazione dell’acqua.

THE DIRILLO LAKE AND THE CANALAZZO PARK
The Dirillo Lake is located in eastern Sicily, in the municipalities of Licodia Eubea (CT) and Monterosso Almo (RG). It is an artificial lake created by the damming of the river through the Dirillo and Ragoleto. The reservoir capacity of more than 20 million cubic meters, was equipped as a sports tourist area. The lake is nestled in a landscape of greenery which suggests that it is not in Sicily but in regions such as Trentino. The waters are home to various species of fish such as pike lake, trout, carp and perch. From the eastern shore of the lake you can reach the Canalazzo Park a wooded complex consists of coniferous and oak species that are slowly giving way to more and more oaks typical of the area. Along the road that winds through the forest, you will encounter the first structures of a picnic area. Soon you will arrive near an old mill around which were arranged other accommodation facilities. In this place is located a baking multiple point, many tables and benches very well integrated into the environment. Very characteristic are the Canalazzo Houses, rural fortified building housing dating back to 1800, where in addition to the mighty walls you can admire ancient water canalisation systems.
